“Filled with the fruit of righteousness.”

Paul writes to the Philippians:

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.”

Notice Paul doesn’t say filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through your own good works. He says filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ.

Our righteousness comes through Jesus Christ.

Not from ourselves.

Through Jesus Christ.

He is our righteousness!

Sure, and hasn’t He ALREADY forgiven us of all our sins, past present and future? He has already cleansed us once for all? It is finished ?

Of course. In 1 John 1:7 says that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. I think it is easy to believe that applies to my past, and ultimately to my future, but I need confession to apply the eternal forgiveness to my present tense. It means the blood of Jesus is sufficient for today.

sure, ‘confession’ just means ‘agree’ or ‘say the same’ right? I agree, I am a sinner. I am righteous by faith. Amen!

Hey!

Hey there. I’m Steve Edwards. I’m an actor, a writer, a teacher and a preacher!

This site explores the meaning of St. Paul’s words ‘by grace we are saved’. I hope it helps you to understand that we are loved by God completely, purely, fully, regardless of our mistakes. He loves us not because of who we are, but because of who He is, and what He did for us on the cross. Amen!

Please explore the hundreds of articles on the different books of the bible, and how the bible reveals that our holiness is a gift from God, and doesn’t depend on us and our good works. Thank God for that!
