Do Grace and Gay go together?

Before I had a revelation of God’s grace this year I would have been batting in the anti-gay team. Homosexuality is wrong, it’s sin, blah blah blah. But when God revealed GRACE to me I realized that our righteous standing before God is nothing to do with what we do, it is a free gift, so now I find myself batting for the other team, so to speak.

ALL have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. None of us deserve salvation. We have it because God loves us enough to crucify Himself in our place. There is no difference between a homosexual or a straight, bisexual or transgender person. To God we are all just ‘lost children trying to find our way home.’ (Leanne Payne). If anyone comes to Christ, regardless of their sexuality, they are washed clean in His blood, forever. If they continue in an active sexual relationship, that is between them and God, no one else. It does not affect their righteous standing before God, because their righteousness is a free gift and does not depend on what they do, but on what Christ did for them. The same for us. Jesus Christ made us holy and perfect through his sacrifice.

This is Grace.

If we come to Christ, whatever our sexual orientation, we are washed clean in the blood of the lamb. Nothing we do can subtract from the righteousness God has given us. If it could, then our righteousness depends on us and our ‘works’, and not on Him. GRACE extends to everyone who accepts it and comes to Christ.

By one sacrifice He has made us perfect forever.

    I guess we could add that we can always expect Grace to transform us on the inside since Jesus constantly works to change us into his image, through the Spirit. #Glory!

    And since Jesus died for all our sin, he knows very well which parts of us he wants to change. #Love!

    And we know that he will never give up on us #Hope!

    The Good News of Jesus is just that – Good News! #Faith!

    Either Jesus paid it all, or He didn’t.
    I believe that He did, therefore no additional payment is necessary. Believe and receive.
    Changes will come in due time, but the Holy Spirit produces them, not us.

    I received what Christ did for me 30 + years ago , I am seeing the world through grace glasses more and more. Just having a problem with this whole lifestyle of homosexual after a person comes into relationship with Christ . Could you explain Romans 1; 1-32? Verse 21, because they knew God they did not glorify Him as God. Verse 24, God gave them up to uncleaness to dishonor their bodies. Verse 26, women exchanged the natural use for what was against nature. Verse, 28, God gave them over to a debased mind to do what was not fitting. What is a reportable mind. That kind of mind must be renewed. Verse 32, who knowing the judgment of God , that those who practice such things are deserving death not only do the same but also approve of those who practice. I don’t approve of this lifestyle , but I one welcome and care for all people. I am not better just saved by grace.thanks for your input.

      We can’t just isolate that verse. Paul didn’t stop there. He is building up to something. Paul was a lawyer. He’s buiilding his argument. His major point of attack to those who condemn other sinners comes at Romans 3:23. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by His grace.” The next 8 chapters are all about how we are free from God’s judgement when we are in Christ, how we are justified through faith (5:1), how if and when we sin ‘grace increases’ (6:1) and that there is “no condmenation for those who are in Christ,” (Romans 8:1). Nothing in all creation (not even sin) can separate us from the love of God. Amen?!

      Priscilla, Paul is building up to the fact that we are all sinners, and none of us can achieve righteousness on our own. We who accept Christ are all made righteous as a free gift, by grace. Those who reject Christ are still in their sin. We who have accepted him are free from sin.

    As Christians we have always looked at who we are, now that we are Christians and they, those who’s hearts have not received what Christ has done, as outsiders and they need to clean themselves up to be like us. I am the one who Had the problem. I am so thankful for all grace preachers and teachers. Bertie and Bob Woods and you are plowing through and helping Gods children see Jesus like he was meant to be seen. Jesus was not afraid to love and embrace mankind. I am clean by what Christ did how can I in my own self ,mess with that. I have To daily strive I live in grace. Sometimes it is easier to judge and keep the world out instead of showing love . Thanks for the time. Keep plowing!

      Yes Priscilla. That’s it. This is a whole new Jesus. Grace makes Jesus brand new and opens our eyes to the real Jesus – the One whose name is Love. Amen sister! Another beautiful child of God who grasps grace.

    Our goal should be learn who we are in Christ and learn who we are not anymore . This is the only message that should be coming from pulpits today.

    Amen, sister. Too much focus on our sin and confessing / repenting in church today. It has already all been forgiven once for all. God sees us as His beautiful children made holy, righteous and perfect forever. HE did it. Not us. Him. To deny this is to say Christ’s crucifixion wasn’t powerful enough to cleanse us once for all.     I hope these comments helps someone. Just one more thought. I went to Romans 10; 3. I have been ignorant of God’s righteousness and seeking to establish my own by not submitting to his righteousness. Verse 4, Christ ended it.

    Includes sexual sins.
