Why is it that when we hear the word ‘confession’ we automatically associate it with sin?
If we look at the original meaning of the word confess, it basically means to admit, acknowledge and agree with God. So yes, we need to agree with God and confess that sin contradicts His Word and separates us from Him.
But there are so many other truths in His word that we should also be confessing!
Confession with our mouth is directly linked to salvation. There is something powerful that happens when we don’t just believe truth in our hearts, but actually speak it out loud and proclaim it!
“That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shall believe in your heart that
God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.”
~ Romans 10:9
There are some amazing promises in God’s word that I need to be confessing more often!
I confess that I have been born of God. The creator of heaven and earth is my Father. (John 1:12)
I confess that I am the salt and light of the world. I am the flavor of Christ and reflection of Truth to a dark and bitter culture.
I confess that I do not have a Spirit of timidity, but of power, of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
I confess that I am blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ and I am seated with Him in the heavenly places, far above all principalities and powers of darkness. (Ephesians 2:6)
I confess that there is no depth or height that can separate me from the love of God. (Romans 8:39)
I confess that he who began a good work in me will carry it on to completion. (Philippians 1:6)
I confess that I was created in Christ Jesus for good works which He prepared beforehand that I should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)
I confess that my God shall supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)
I confess that I can conquer all things through Him. (Romans 8:37)
And that’s just a few!!!!
