Knowing Him

A Letter To My Son: Happy 2nd Birthday!

To my dear, sweet, wild and crazy son,

It’s hard to believe two years have passed since that day my eyes and arms first held you.

Newborn

You have brought so much love, joy and energy to my life.

I love the many ways you make me smile. I love your early morning snuggles. I love how you love to sit on my lap as we read books. I love your adventurous spirit. I love how you ensure my daily dose of exercise. I love how you enjoy helping me cleanup. I love your sweet, toddler kisses. I love the way we play and chase. I love the way you gently rest your head on my chest. I love your good-night hugs. I love your excitement when you see me walk through the door. I love your contagious laugh.

I love your outgoing personality.  I love the way you say “hi, hi, hi!” to each and every person we approach at the grocery store and I love how you never fail to leave them without a big smile on their face.

I love the way you inspire me – you inspire me to love people.

To be completely honest, the first time you ran up to a complete stranger with arms wide open hoping they would pick you up – it kinda freaked me out. But as I see you do this more, I’m understanding that God has given you a heart with built in compassion; a heart with true and genuine love for people.

I’m grateful to see this quality already forming in you. It is my prayer that God would give me wisdom in how to nurture and encourage this to be used for His kingdom and glory.

My greatest desire for you is that you will confess that Jesus is Lord and believe in the depths of your heart that God raised Him from the dead; that you would keep His word the apple of your eye and seek more than anything to know Him. When you seek with all your heart you will find Him. I pray daily that He will grant to you, at a young age, the knowledge and wisdom to understand the contrast of your spiritual condition without Him, to what it is with Him, and that this awareness would cause you to run into His outstretched, live-giving arms!

You were created to be His ambassador, therefore fix your hope fully in Him! For it is in Christ that you have every blessing and resource you need to live a bold and courageous life, full of holiness and godliness.

I love you with every single ounce and fragment of my heart. One of my greatest joys is watching you grow..I’m so thankful to be your mommy!

Happy 2nd Birthday!

❤ Mommy
