Knowing Him

A Letter To My Daughter: Happy 3rd Birthday!

To my sweet daughter,

It’s hard to believe it’s been three years since this day..

..the day you made me a mommy.

Motherhood is the most amazing, joyful, rewarding, renewing, demanding, exhausting, all-consuming, self-revealing, faith-provoking, love-abounding,  patient-making,  life-changing, wisdom-seeking, purpose-giving, AWESOME responsibility our Lord has bestowed upon me. I’m so thankful that He has entrusted me to be yours and for you to be mine.

My hope for you is that you will seek the Lord, seek Truth, crave knowledge of His ways and His precepts.  Like Mary of Bethany find complete contentment in sitting at His feet worshiping Him, soaking up His beautiful presence, letting Him fulfill all your hearts desires and longings.

Your relationship with Him is your most precious possession. Cherish it.  Let it become your identity. It is the one thing that can never be taken away from you.

It’s amazing, even at three, that I am already beginning to see the gifts that He has given you. You have an amazing capacity for compassion. You have a way of discerning when people are sad or feeling hurt. You also have a love for prayer. When you sense that the people you love are hurting, PRAY! That is one of the most important and powerful things you can do.

You also love to help and serve others. This is a very valuable quality, don’t let anyone ever tell you otherwise.

Time goes by so fast. Please don’t waste time worrying what people think of you (in an unhealthy way… a way that causes you to question your purpose or your value). Don’t waste time holding grudges against people. Be quick to forgive. Don’t waste time fearing the many things in life that you cannot and will never control, but constantly bring them to the One who hold your life in His hands.

Pursue your dreams. They are God-given. Discover the ways He created you to bring Him glory. Seek love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control, all of which can only be found through faith in your Lord and Savior.

I! Love! You!

Happy 3rd Birthday!!

❤ Mommy
