I’ve been studying the life of Gideon for the past few weeks with a group of ladies from my church. Here is some great application the Lord revealed to us this past week.
The angel of the LORD came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. (Judges 6:11)
Wheat threshing. During the days of Gideon this was a very common, seemingly insignificant practice. However, the fact that there was wheat to thresh was a sign of God’s blessing during a time when the Israelites were enduring oppression under the Midianites.
3 “‘If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, 4 I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit. 5 Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land.” (Leviticus 26:3-5)
What are some of simple, everyday, not so pleasant tasks I must accomplish daily?
Diapers to change
Piles of laundry to wash, fold and put away
Beds to make
Dishes to clean
A family to pick up after
Toilets to wash
Furniture to dust
Carpets to vacuum
Floors to mop
An abundance of toys to pick up
3 meals to prepare daily
Thank you, Lord for the everyday, mundane work I do which all point to the very fact that I AM BLESSED!
