Return to me, for I have redeemed you.

Our salvation doesn’t depend on our performance but on Christ’s performance. God poured out His anger at your sin and my sin – the sins of the whole world – onto Jesus on the cross.

Yet if we sin now, if we do wrong, if we put something or someone apart from Him at the centre of our devotion – it is like twisting a knife in His Heart.

Because God is our Lover. This is why He is a ‘jealous God.’

When we sin, we hurt ourselves. Yet God is not angry, because all of His divine anger at sin was poured out onto Christ on the cross. But when we do wrong and cause harm to ourselves or others God is hurt because we are His beloved children, precious and priceless in His sight.

We have been cleansed of sin once for all. It has no power to kill us. Christ did away with it once for all.

If we return to anything or anyone else but Him in our times of loneliness or times of need we will damage ourselves even more.

There is One healer.

The LORD our God.

Jesus Christ – the righteous one, who says:

“I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.”

(Isaiah 44:22)

Hey!

Hey there. I’m Steve Edwards. I’m an actor, a writer, a teacher and a preacher!

This site explores the meaning of St. Paul’s words ‘by grace we are saved’. I hope it helps you to understand that we are loved by God completely, purely, fully, regardless of our mistakes. He loves us not because of who we are, but because of who He is, and what He did for us on the cross. Amen!

Please explore the hundreds of articles on the different books of the bible, and how the bible reveals that our holiness is a gift from God, and doesn’t depend on us and our good works. Thank God for that!

You can also find me preaching about God’s amazing grace on Tik Tok @christianactor.
