Being in Christ is as if there were no God to punish sin.

Let’s face it, if it wasn’t for God, we wouldn’t give a damn about sin.

We’d carry on doing whatever we pleased, with no worries.

Eternal life wouldn’t be an issue, because there would be no God.

The only problems that might arise from our ‘sin’ would be earthly consequences.

There would be no eternal consequences.

Well that is exactly the same for us if we are in Christ, except there is a God, and we DO have eternal life – as a FREE GIFT.

But there are no eternal consequences to our sin because JESUS paid the price for us – on The Cross.

We are free !

The only problems we have are that sin will destroy our life here on earth.

If we sin we not only hurt our selves, and those who love us, we also break God’s heart – because we are His children and He doesn’t want us to hurt our selves or others.

But God will never, ever punish us for our mistakes, our wrong doing, our ‘sin’ – because He took the punishment Himself.

That is the case for those of us who have put our faith in Christ.

For those who haven’t put their faith in Christ, they WILL face eternal consequences for their sin.

But we are home free.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free!” shouts Paul.

and then:

“But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature.”

Why not? Because we will go to hell? We will lose our salvation?

No, because we want to live a healthy life-style, not hurting our selves or those who love us, or making God sad.

We want to please God, doing good works, that others may see our good works and glorify our Father in Heaven.

We want to be a good witness for Jesus.

When we know we are completely saved, completely loved and completely free we exude pure joy and serve Him out of an overflowing cup of thankfulness and love – not because we fear being punished for our sin – but because we know He will never ever punish us for our sin ever again.

As if there were no God, sin is not an issue for those who are in Christ – ever again.

Eternally.

“We died with Christ and everyone who has died have been freed from sin.”

Romans 6:7

Rejoice! I’ll say it again rejoice!

Jesus paid the full price!

We are free!

Hey!

Hey there. I’m Steve Edwards. I’m an actor, a writer, a teacher and a preacher!

This site explores the meaning of St. Paul’s words ‘by grace we are saved’. I hope it helps you to understand that we are loved by God completely, purely, fully, regardless of our mistakes. He loves us not because of who we are, but because of who He is, and what He did for us on the cross. Amen!

Please explore the hundreds of articles on the different books of the bible, and how the bible reveals that our holiness is a gift from God, and doesn’t depend on us and our good works. Thank God for that!
