“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace which he lavished on us.” (Ephesians 1:8)
I love that – lavished!
I get the image of a dog waiting for its owner, then when the owner comes home the dog jumps up lavishing kisses on her, wagging its tail, whimpering with love, washing the owners’s face with its tongue!
Dogs are a great illustration of God’s love because they love us without condition. This is how God feels about us when we come home to Him through Jesus.
Through Christ, God lavishes kisses on us – loves us without condition.
And he washes us clean, not with his tongue…but with the blood of His Son.
