Nothing we do can make us holy.

We judge each other on how sinful we are, yet we are all equal as far as sin goes.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by His grace.”

Just as we are all sinful, if we believe, we are holy and perfect in God’s sight because of what Christ has done for us.

“Nothing you do,” says Paul. “So no one can boast.”

Nothing we do can make us holy, and nothing we do can make us unholy (thank God).

None of us are holier than the other. We are all only able to stand holy before God because of what Christ has done, not because of what we do.

Far too many men in the church seem to think their own actions towards purity mean anything to God. This is self righteousness: the belief we can stand right before God by what we do. If that were the case, Christ died for nothing.

“God forbid that I should boast,” says Paul, “except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Let’s stop looking at each other’s sin, and fix our eyes on Christ. We have Him to thank for our holiness, and Him alone.

“Not of yourselves,” says Paul. “It is the gift of God.”

Hey!

Hey there. I’m Steve Edwards. I’m an actor, a writer, a teacher and a preacher!

This site explores the meaning of St. Paul’s words ‘by grace we are saved’. I hope it helps you to understand that we are loved by God completely, purely, fully, regardless of our mistakes. He loves us not because of who we are, but because of who He is, and what He did for us on the cross. Amen!

Please explore the hundreds of articles on the different books of the bible, and how the bible reveals that our holiness is a gift from God, and doesn’t depend on us and our good works. Thank God for that!
