Not by Works

“By grace are you saved, through faith, not of yourselves. It is the gift of God. Not your own good deeds, so no one should boast.”

Every Christian would be set free if only they would understand that nothing we can do can make us holy. Even when we think we do good, this is what God says:

“We are all infected and impure with sin. Our righteous deeds are like filthy rags.”

Such is God’s holiness in comparison to ours when we think we are being ‘holy’.

We can look at porn all day, masturbate and become involved in all kinds of sexual depravity – it is our faith in Christ that makes us holy, nothing more, nothing less.

Nothing we do, or don’t do, can change the way God sees us.

Only when we truly understand the depth of God’s love for us and the cost of Christ’s sacrifice will we stop entangling ourselves in the snare of our sin and trampling on this Grace.

Yet even if we do, Grace is on tap.

Such is the measure of God’s love for us.

And that, my brothers, is true freedom. The freedom to know that even if we fall, God doesn’t count our sin against us.

It is, I believe, only when we truly understand this freedom – this grace – that we are set free from the guilt and shame that leads us to to sin, to finally live a pure & righteous life in Christ.

Nothing we can do make us unholy. Christ is in us. We are holy FOREVER.

“By one sacrifice we have been made holy through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ ONCE FOR ALL.”

HOLY.

ONCE FOR ALL.

Now that, my friends, is TRUE FREEDOM.

And if the Son sets us free we are FREE indeed!

Hey!

Hey there. I’m Steve Edwards. I’m an actor, a writer, a teacher and a preacher!

This site explores the meaning of St. Paul’s words ‘by grace we are saved’. I hope it helps you to understand that we are loved by God completely, purely, fully, regardless of our mistakes. He loves us not because of who we are, but because of who He is, and what He did for us on the cross. Amen!

Please explore the hundreds of articles on the different books of the bible, and how the bible reveals that our holiness is a gift from God, and doesn’t depend on us and our good works. Thank God for that!

You can also find me preaching about God’s amazing grace on Tik Tok @christianactor.
